Monia de Marchi

Monia De Marchi is an architect and Head of the First Year Undergraduate Programme at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. She completed her architecture studies at Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia and holds the DRL MArch from the Architectural Association. Monia has been teaching at the AA School of Architecture since 2005, formerly directing a Diploma Unit, and for the last 15 years as Head of First Year. The First Year Programme enrols more than 100 students each year and employs a team of 14 tutors. Since 2015, Monia has also held a number of roles in the School’s leadership, as a member of the Academic Board, the Senior Management Team, and the Teaching and Learning Committee. Monia is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy at the Advanced Higher Education Academy, UK. She has also been involved in architectural practice, both with her own office until 2011, which had projects worldwide across a range of scales from building to masterplan, and prior to that, with the office of Zaha Hadid Architects. She has a broad interest in the design fields generally and has collaborated with a range of practices from fashion design to graphic design with skills in architecture design, theory and history, 3D Visualization, Parametric Design and Urbanism.
